Why Shen's "Armpit Boi" Signature Might Be Vendetta's Most Underrated Chase Card

What follows is our honest read on one specific card, with the real numbers shown alongside it so you can weigh it yourself.

The card

Shen, Eye of Twilight (VEN 193★/166) is Shen's Signature-tier Legend printing from Vendetta — a Calm-domain Legend whose printed ability reads: "ACTION: Give a friendly unit Tank this turn." Like every Signature printing, it carries a real hand-signature from its artist, Oscar Vega, over a premium alternate-art treatment. It's the reason Signature cards sit at the very top of Riftbound's rarity ladder: each one is a physically unique object, not just a scarce print run.

Collectors have taken to calling it "Armpit Boi" — and having looked at the actual card, it's an accurate description, not an exaggeration. The art is an unusually tight, close-cropped composition built around Shen's raised arm, a bolder crop than most Legend art goes for. It's a distinctive piece specifically because of that choice, not despite it.

The case for underrated

Here's our reasoning, laid out plainly as reasoning rather than fact:

The art is doing something few other Legends do. Most Legend art plays it safe with a fuller, more conventional character portrait. This one commits fully to an unconventional crop, which is exactly the kind of choice that tends to age into being more sought-after, not less, once a set's early-days pricing settles down.

The stock is thin enough that the current price may not hold. Two stores carrying a card at all six of RiftCompare's tracked markets is a genuinely small sample — a market that thin can reprice quickly in either direction the moment even one of those listings sells or a new buyer starts actively looking.

Shen's reach as a League of Legends champion is broad. He's one of the more enduringly popular characters in League's own roster, which matters here specifically because signature Legend prices tend to track character demand as much as in-game strategic relevance.

What this isn't

We checked the closest comparable we could find — Ambessa, Matriarch of War's Signature printing, also from Vendetta — and it's priced within a similar band on similarly thin stock (around US$495 / A$727, two stores). So this isn't a claim that Shen's Signature is mispriced against its direct peers; it currently isn't. The case here is broader: that Vendetta's Signature Legends as a tier, Shen's included, may not have finished settling into their real price yet — and if that's right, a card with this card's specific combination of distinctive art, thin stock and character popularity is a reasonable one to have on a watchlist.
