The first thing that trips people up: "an Ahri card" is ambiguous, because there are three separate cards with her name on them.

They do different things and go in different decks. A listing that just says "Ahri" tells you almost nothing — you need the collector number.

The clearest illustration in the game sits inside this list. Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox was printed twice at collector number 303:

That white scrawl is the entire difference. It is worth about US$3,046, or roughly nine times the price of the unsigned card.
This is why the asterisk in a collector number matters more than almost anything else when you are buying. If a listing photo is low-resolution and the seller has written only "Ahri Showcase", you are looking at two possible cards an order of magnitude apart in value. Ask for the number.
