RiftCompare Premium: Every Feature Explained

RiftCompare's price comparison — search, browse, live prices across every store and eBay, the deck builder, the trade calculator, box EV, the Index and daily movers — has always been free, and stays free. This post is about the other thing: what you actually get if you pay for RiftCompare Premium, screenshot by screenshot, with nothing rounded up or left vague.

Short version: Premium is $4.99/mo (or $39/yr), and it unlocks seven tools you can't use at all otherwise, cuts your Marketplace seller fee in half, and removes every ad on the site. Here's the full breakdown.

How much does RiftCompare Premium cost?

Both plans run through Stripe, need a card up front for the trial, and auto-convert to the paid price after 3 days unless you cancel first. Subscribe once and your price is locked in for good — it doesn't rise later even as new tools ship, which is worth knowing given how much has been added to Premium since launch (Arbitrage Alerts and the Condition Calculator are both recent additions).

Cancellation is genuinely no-friction: cancel anytime, and your benefits simply run to the end of the period you already paid for.

What's free, what needs a free account, and what needs Premium

Everything below is real, current, and reflects exactly what each tier gets — not a marketing simplification.

The pattern is deliberate: nothing about seeing a price is ever gated. A free account adds the two things every serious collector eventually wants (alerts and a portfolio); Premium is entirely the pro tools and the seller discount on top of that.

1. Value Finder screener

Value Finder scans every card in the database and surfaces the ones trading below their own 30-day average right now, ranked by how far below their usual price they sit — not just by today's dip. It's a mean-reversion signal built for value buyers and flippers: the cards here aren't necessarily cheap in absolute terms, they're cheap relative to their own recent history, which is a meaningfully different (and harder to eyeball) signal than "biggest % drop today."

This is Premium-only outright — a free account doesn't get even a teaser of it.

2. Rising Cards — the full list

Rising Cards ranks cards by a composite of demand and price-timing signals — search interest that's high or actively rising, combined with a card sitting near its own recent low rather than one that's already spiked. The scoring is transparent (not a black box) and backtested. Free accounts and anonymous visitors can see the #1 pick; Premium unlocks the full ranked list plus the per-market toggle (switch between Global and each country RiftCompare tracks).

3. Deal Finder — all four views, full list

Deal Finder is the one built specifically around arbitrage — the same card, priced meaningfully differently in two places RiftCompare tracks at the same time. It has four separate views:

• Worth more on eBay — cards that sell for more on eBay than the cheapest tracked store or our own Marketplace currently charges (useful if you're deciding whether to sell)
• Underpriced vs TCGplayer — cards cheaper elsewhere than TCGplayer's own listing
• Cheapest on eBay — the reverse: cards where eBay is currently the cheapest place to buy
• Cross-region — cards priced meaningfully cheaper in a different market RiftCompare tracks

Every gap is computed from live listings, not a reference price, and ranked by delivered cost (price plus estimated shipping) rather than sticker price alone — a $2 saving that costs $5 more to ship isn't a real saving, and Deal Finder already knows that. Free accounts get the top result only; Premium gets the full, sortable list across all four views.

4. Arbitrage Alerts

The newest addition to Premium: a daily email digest of Deal Finder's best gaps, delivered automatically — no separate opt-in, and one click to unsubscribe if you'd rather just check the page yourself. It's the same engine as Deal Finder above, just landing in your inbox instead of requiring a visit.

5. Bulk Pricer

Paste an entire want-list, trade pile or full collection, and Bulk Pricer matches every card to its cheapest live store price at once, with a running total. If you've ever priced out a stack of 40 cards one search at a time, this is the tool that turns it into one paste.

6. Best Basket

Best Basket answers a genuinely different question than "what's each card's cheapest price": what's the cheapest way to actually buy the whole list, once postage and free-shipping thresholds are factored in across stores. The lowest total landed cost across a real shopping trip, not just the lowest price per card summed up.

7. Condition Impact Calculator

Search any card and see how its value shifts across NM, LP, MP, HP and DMG — the exact same multiplier scale your portfolio is already valued with, run forward on any single card before you buy, sell or grade a copy.

The Marketplace discount: 1% instead of 2%

If you sell on the RiftCompare Marketplace, Premium quietly pays for itself the fastest here: the standard seller fee is 2%, and Premium sellers pay 1% — half the rate, applied automatically to every sale from the moment you're Premium, with no separate toggle or opt-in. On a single $250 sale that's the difference between a $5 and a $2.50 fee; sell a handful of cards a month and the fee cut alone can cover the subscription.

Two free ways to get Premium without paying

You don't have to subscribe to try it:

• Every new account gets a free 1-day Premium preview, automatically, the moment you sign up — no card, no trial to remember to cancel.
• Submit feedback once — a bug report, a feature request, anything genuinely useful — and it unlocks a full month of Premium, free, no card required either.

Neither of these requires ever entering a payment method. If Premium turns out to not be for you, both simply expire with nothing charged.

Who should actually pay for it

Being straightforward here, since the point of this post is accuracy over hype: if you only ever check a handful of card prices before buying, the free tier already does that job completely — you'd be paying for tools you won't open. Premium earns its price for three kinds of RiftCompare users specifically:

1. Active buyers who want an edge — Value Finder and Rising Cards exist to surface opportunities you would not have found by browsing normally.

If none of those describe how you use the site, the free tier — which still includes full price comparison, alerts and a portfolio tracker — is genuinely not a downgrade. That's a deliberate design choice, not a limitation we're hoping you won't notice.
