RiftCompare Is Now Live in the EU

RiftCompare now has a real EU market. Switch the country selector to Europe (EU) and every price is EUR, sourced from real eurozone stores — not a UK price with a currency symbol swapped, which is what an EU visitor saw here until now.

What actually changed

Before today, an EU shopper landed on RiftCompare and got routed to the UK market: real UK stores, real GBP stock — just displayed to you in EUR at a rough conversion rate, because it was the closest currency and postage match RiftCompare had. That number was honest about being a conversion, but it was still, structurally, someone else's market wearing your currency.

As of this market, that's gone for eurozone visitors. Europe (EU) is now its own priced market, the sixth alongside Australia, the US, the UK, Singapore and Canada — with its own real store inventory, its own EUR prices, and no conversion step in between.

Why the whole eurozone is one market, not one per country

This is the part worth understanding, because it's not how any of RiftCompare's other markets work. Every other market on the site is one country. The EU is roughly twenty.

We tried the single-country version first: Germany, added and removed on the same day in August. Not because German stores don't exist — because one country's worth of them wasn't enough to build a real price comparison out of. A market with three or four stores in it isn't a comparison, it's a coincidence.

The eurozone fixes that structurally, not by trying harder to find German stores, but by asking a different question. Eurozone countries share a currency and a customs union. A store in Rotterdam selling at €4.20 is €4.20 to a buyer in Madrid — no conversion, no import duty, no customs form. That means "the cheapest EUR listing anywhere in the eurozone" is a genuinely buyable number, in a way "the cheapest listing in one specific country" mostly wasn't. Pool the stores across the whole currency union and you get a market deep enough to actually compare — eleven real stores, across six countries, rather than three in one.

The honest version of "eleven stores"

We didn't stop at eleven because eleven was easy. We swept 421 eurozone shop domains — Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, French and English searches — for anything selling Riftbound. Most of what we found sells sealed product only: booster boxes, displays, champion decks, no singles through their own site at all. Eleven is what's left once you filter for stores that actually run a real singles inventory on their own storefront, confirmed on a live probe.

That number will grow — we're actively working through stores running on platforms (WooCommerce, PrestaShop) our importer doesn't read yet, which is most of what's left. It won't come from lowering the bar.

Why this shipped now

A Spanish card store wrote to us directly, asking to be listed and pointing out that the Spanish Riftbound scene was growing fast. They were right, and pulling that thread — "how many EU stores actually sell singles" — is what turned into this market. If you run a European store and want to be part of the comparison, the listing form is free.

What this doesn't cover yet — and won't pretend to

The biggest source of real Riftbound singles trading in Europe isn't any of the eleven stores above — it's Cardmarket and CardTrader, the two pan-European marketplaces most European collectors already use. RiftCompare doesn't price those yet. Cardmarket's terms require their written permission before their price data can be shown elsewhere, and we're not going to quietly work around that — so it's off until that permission is in place, not hidden behind a flag hoping nobody notices. When it lands, we'll say so here.
